Mr. Cake’s Day Care and Out-of-School Care
Operating since 1979, Mr. Cake’s strives to provide your child with experiences that will satisfy their social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs. Children need the freedom to explore and play in a welcoming and home away from home environment. By encouraging play, our highly qualified and long-term staff are able to nourish every aspect of a child’s development that enables them to learn and grow.
The educated staff at Mr. Cake’s Daycare know how important the early experiences in a child's life are to their development. Working with our parents, we are committed to encouraging your child's imagination and support their natural curiosity of learning through play. All of the staff working with the children participate in ongoing professional development, are certified in first aid, and complete criminal reference checks.
We also know it is hard to leave your little ones and it can feel like you are missing out on important milestones and experiences your child has when at daycare. In addition to daily verbal updates, pictures posted online, and yearly developmental checklists, our educators also write up monthly progress reports. These monthly reports detail what your child has learned over the month, what they have been working on mastering, and other information they want to share with you.
We offer fun, hands-on educational activities that focus on learning through play, community involvement and developing the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the future.
Each of our six playrooms is divided into centres that focus on weekly themes and include craft supplies, early literacy activities, manipulative play, dramatic play, quiet areas and large muscle activities to promote the development of various skills. In addition, we offer nutritious homemade meals and snacks, regular library visits, yearly field trips around the community and a large, open backyard, right on site.
